UCTS technology is capable of delivering high accuracy results that would be of the right quality for model validation. Because of its unique technical characteristics and method of application it is possible to control or eliminate potential sources of systematic error.  LG Tech-Link Global works with customers to provide best practice guidance for optimizing application.

Examples of best practices include:

  • Pre-select blades trying to minimize variation in factors of influence (advanced methods of non-destructive measurement such as x-ray, thermo-vision, etc.)
  • Increase number of identically instrumented blades
  • Create 3D Solid Model blade file and use CNC capable EDM machining to assure minimize variation in UCTS cavity placement.
  • Maintain good control over test execution.
  • Duplicate the effort to obtain a time history record of the test
  • Thoroughly document blade post-test conditions
  • Use FEA to model actual test conditions and blade geometrical characteristics.
